Lyanne Quirt - Biography
Hello! I am in my fourth year in the UBC midwifery program. I am excited to be working with Kim and the team at West Coast Midwifery starting this September. Victoria has been home for me since I moved here in 2005 to attend UVic, so I am thrilled to be back here for my final year of midwifery school.
I have always been passionate about pregnancy, birth, and women’s health. I trained as a doula, and I volunteered for several years at Island Sexual Health Society here in Victoria. I am drawn to midwifery because it offers a holistic model of care during an important transition in women’s (and families’) lives. It is a privilege for me to continue to be involved with birth as a student midwife.
This summer I will be doing a seven-week clinical placement in Uganda; it is an amazing opportunity, and I have no doubt I will learn a lot from the women and the midwives I work with when I’m there. I look forward to meeting you soon!
